Red Ribbon Club

The RRC aims at harnessing the potential of the youth by equipping them with correct information on HIV/AIDS prevention, Care and Support and Treatment. It also aims in building their capacities as peer education in spreading message on positive health behavior in an enabling environment and increasing voluntary blood donation from among youth.

Objectives
The RRC in the educational institutions/other institutions will seek to initiate efforts to:

  • Heighten their level of awareness about HIV/AIDS/STI/sexuality and other related issues (thus eliminate myths and misconceptions)
  • Educate youth with correct, concise and adequate information and
  • To promote voluntary non-remunerated blood donation among youth
  • To reduce new HIV infection among youth by raising their risk perception through awareness on Sex, Sexuality and HIV & AIDS

  • To induce among youth the spirit to help and support people living with HIV/AIDS
  • To motivate youth and build their capacity as peer educators

Recent Activities of College RRC- 2013-14

  • Red ribbon distribution and class room discussions about transmission and prevention of AIDS on December 1 ,world aids day
  • Organized awareness classes about HIV/AIDS and voluntary blood donation
  • AIDS awareness rally on December 1, World Aids Day
  • Conducted “Pavanadakam” , a puppet play in collaboration with district health department to give awareness on aids
  • Voluntary blood donation camp and data collection in collaboration with computer science association
  • Published a blood group and blood donors directory
  • Mr Yonus.P; Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology is the Co-ordinator of the Club.
