Training on isolation of bacteria from soil 2018-19

A Training on isolation of bacteria from soil was conducted to students of PPM higher secondary school ,Kkottukkara by department of microbiology on 25 October 2018. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Shiji Thomas, Head of the department of microbiology. Lectures on  soil bacteria and their importance were given to students by Yoonus. P, Assistant professor, department of microbiology. Demonstration of experiments were presented by first semester M.Sc. microbiology students.

Objectives of the program     

  • To show
  • that microbes are every where
  • the variety of microbes
  • that the microbial population varies from place to place
  •  Make students able to plan an experiment to school science fair
  • Promote  interest in soil microbiology research

 Outcome of the program

  • Improved knowledge skills about soil bacteria and importance
  • Became familiar with microbiologic techniques
  • Understood the importance of keeping indigenous composition       of soil
